Actress Sue Devaney opened up about the difficulty of portraying Debbie during such a vulnerable time. “She doesn’t want to be seen as weak,” Devaney said. “Debbie is a protector — even without kids, her instinct is to shield those she loves. She’s scared people will treat her differently.”

While Debbie struggles in silence, Abby is drowning in guilt. Caught between her loyalty to Kevin and the allure of Carl, she’s spiraling. Sally Carman-Duttine, who’s portrayed Abby since 2017, admitted she’s relished diving deep into the character’s unraveling. “Abby is someone who implodes, over and over again,” she said. “Her choices have consequences, and they’re rarely simple. That’s what makes her so compelling — she’s unpredictable, but always driven by emotion.”

Abby’s inner conflict becomes even more painful as Carl integrates himself into the family. When Kevin naively offers Carl a place to stay — even giving him their sofa — the tension becomes unbearable. Carl, smirking through it all, knows exactly what he’s doing. And Abby? Behind the scenes, Carman-Duttine praised her new co-star Jonathan Howard, who plays Carl. “He fits in with the cast brilliantly,” she shared. “He’s laidback, talented, and really brought something new to the Websters.” Still, the actress admitted she doesn’t know which path she wants Abby to take. “Do I want her to stay with Kevin or run off with Carl?
